London .NET User Group
Welcome to the London .NET user group. The group was
etablished in 2002 to provide developers developers working with Microsoft's
.NET framework with access to the latest and best information. At our monthly
meetings you can hear expert speakers who dig 'under the hood' and keep you
informed on best practices and future directions of the Framework.
Community
Open Mike
Our regular 'Open Mike' nights give members of the community the opportunity to
share their expertise and experience. Many of our 'Open Mike' speakers go on to
be well-known in the wider community.
Beer and Pizza
For the geeks among you who want to socialize with other developers who share
your interest and passion we have a half-hour pizza break in every meeting
where you can exchange ideas, tales from the trenches, or network for new jobs
or new employees. Best of all the pizza break is sponsored and free. For those
of you who want to continue to talk, we usually end up in a local 'watering
hole' for a few drinks after.
Participation
Membership
Because our meetings are free we have no need to charge for attendance or
membership. So there is no membership list! Membership of the user group is
just about participating. To participate you can simply come along to one of
our regular meetings. Of course you can join our
mailing list to keep abreast of events. As with all communities you
will get out what you put in. So the more you attend meetings the more you will
come to know our 'regulars' and feel part of the .NET community.
We also welcome offers from members to speak at our meetings. Our 'Open Mike'
nights are intended to 'blood' new speakers in a friendly and welcoming
environment. You can speak on a topic that you are interested in, or just
provide 'tales from the trenches' on your latest projects.
Meetings
Details of our meetings, including time and location can be found on our
meetings page. Strictly non-commercial, all of our meetings are free to
attendees. To sign up for a meeting just mail meetings@dnug.org.uk or reply to
the annoucement on our mailing
list
Mailing List
We have a mailing list
that we encourage everyone to subscribe to. We only use the list to send out
the latest information on our events, and community events that we feel you
might find of interest. We purposely try to keep the list low-traffic so that
it does not become a burden in your in-box. We do allow job postings as a
service to the community.
Requirements
We do not have any membership requirements. We are open to anyone who wants to
participate in the .NET community. Of course developers using, or interested in
using .NET technologies will get the most from our speakers. We do not aim to
provide an opportunity for people who want to learn .NET, instead we aim to
provide information for people who already know the basics, but want to dig
deeper. That said the group has members with a range of knowledge. The key
thing they share is a passion and enthusiasm for .NET
